Title: Thefts - results from the Mossos?
Post by Nigel on Jan 15th, 2009 at 10:14pm
I just spoke to the Mossos in Tortosa on behalf of a friend who was robbed just before Christmas.  They had called him but as he doesn't speak Spanish and they don't speak English so I called back on his behalf.

It appears that they have recovered a large amount of goods that have been stolen and want anyone who has been robbed recently to go to the Commisario opposite Sabeco to see if they can identify any of their stolen items.  You need to ask for the 'Investigaciones' department.

They are open monday to friday (not weekends) until 10pm and don't close at lunchtime.

They are trying to contact anyone who has been robbed but may miss some due to language barriers etc..

If you or someone you know has been robbed recently then let them know and lets hope they caught the b***ards and throw away the key!

Hi Nigel - do you know how recently they are talking about ? As you know we have been hit twice, the last time (that I know about) was a year ago. We reported to the Guardia Civil at the time not the Mossos.

Thanks for the info Nigel, but to be honest unless you can speak Reasonable Spanish, don't even bother going down there. I have been a victim several times over, and the last time was about 3 months ago when they even stole one of my own vehicles to drive my stuff away in.
The vehicle was found about a week later on someone elses land. It would seem that the guy who owned the land called out the Mussos who very kindly removed (for safe keeping???)some solar panels that the thieves for some reason had left in the car. I now have the car back (trashed of course), but when I went down to the mussos to try and get my solar panels back......,of course nobody claims to know where the solar panels are that THEY THEMSELVES removed!!!!.
Hmmmmmm...now why doesn that surprise me???
After about 3 hours at the station and still no progress....they said they would send someone up to my place the following day to speak to me further....gave me a time and everything.....,and told me to be at the property when they arrived......
Still waiting.................................................................
If anyone DOES happen to go down to this "stolen property store",and you spot a couple of large roof mountable solar (water heating) panels in there?????.....,let me know, and I'll have another bash at claiming them back???

I've no idea how far back the haul they have recovered covers - they didn't say.

It's worth the trouble going though.  I spoke to a friend of mine who was robbed recently and he got his video player, car keys and some other stuff back.
Maybe, if you don't speak Spanish, you need to take someone with you that does!

It is funny, how when they want to stop you beside the road to fill their pockets with a few denuncias, there always is one Mossos handy who speaks English, yet at the station they never seem to have one ....

..of course not, they're all out catching the mischievous motorists and handing out multas! There are only so many to go around...
