Does anyone know the translation or name of cranberries?
I have tried several places and they are all trying to sell me blueberries, another place had what looked like cranberries but she said they were grosellas, which in my dictionary are currants. This could be an expensive mistake at 5.95 for a 3 ouce tub, especially as I need 12 ozs of the damned things. The Spanish obviously dont have cranberry sauce, either freshly made or out of a jar, as it's proving a nightmare to find. Jools |

You could try asking for arándano rojo but they don't seem to be a stock item here.

Jools, the name in Spanish is: Arándano rojo The latin name is Vaccinium Oxycoccos and when you type this into google.es it comes up with Arándano rojo. Here's a link to confirm it...http://gallery.new-ecopsychology.org/es/photo/cranberries_%28vaccinium_oxycoccos%292.htm Hope you can find some. John. :) |

I saw packets of dried cranberries in Lidl, Tortosa the other day. (Wednesday).
They were on the next to last aisle, on a shelf with nuts, dates, apricots etc. etc. Actually said cranberries on the label. |

They also stock them in Caprabo (amb Eroski) next to the salad stuff.

Thanks Guys,
Went to Tortosa this morning expecting the Tesco/Sainsbury's type fight down the aisles, with mile long queue's at the tills.....................but at 9.30am Lidl was virtually empty with one young 'chico' on the till, amazing, I bought the cranberries, and other stuff that wasn't really on the list, but hey it's Christmas. We now have beautiful home made cranberry sauce for tomorrow, with a touch too much cognac....... :) Thanks again, and all the best. Jools |
