Aldi used to have a good Black beer, but not sure if they still have it.

Thanks, I'll have a look.  Don't need a lot.  I'm happy with Estrella but I've got a mate coming over for a few days who prefers a darker beer.

at Carrefour.  Why go any further?   The finest real ale in London and not bad here.  Also....think about this.....it is about 1.50 euros for half a litre !!    All my business chums in the City are livid as they have to pay GBP 3.50 to 3.80 a pijnt !!

Where to find it?    Should I tell you ?    Well it's in the UK/International section along with awful jams, chutneys and all the crap I left the UK for cos I couldn't stand the expensive rubbish any more.      But the lack of real ale hurts, neven with a decent Rioja at 1.50/1.80 euros.  You'll frind Guiness and Mackays there too but the Irish rubbish isn;t fit to clean the drains  with unle3ss, of course, your throat is a drain  (discuss?) :D

Thanks for the tip Colin.  That works out at just over a third of the City price (unless my conversions are up the creek).  Mind, with their wages it shouldn't bother them too much ?  :-/
I never liked Guiness the few times I tried it in England but in Eire it's a different matter altogether.  Something to do with the water I'm told as the stuff you buy in England is brewed in London.

Colin,  Which branch of Carrefour are you referring to ?  Just been to the Amposta one and couldn't see it.
Thanks.

Amposta.  go in , turn left and walk right down the central aisle to the very end; turn left.  Amongst the English, jams, chutneys you'll find the beers.

Hi Colin.  None there on the last two visits.  They had Carling and some ciders but no Fullers.  I went on the Fuller's site and emailed one of the three listed importers (the one in Barcelona).  They said that they don't sell it to supermarkets ???  I asked "If you import it, who do you sell it to ?".  They didn't answer the question but offered to send me some if I paid for the transport  :(  No wonder this country is in crisis.  I thanked them but told them it would be too late for my mate's visit.

There is a selection of many different beers in Lidl, dark Belgian and German and I think the posh wine shops [Gotim near the Ajuntamento] carry some stock of different beers.

There are plans for a Beer Festival in Reus soon, to showcase all the local Artesan beers like the Wine festival they do - the best way to taste all those super expensive Priorat wines.
