Title: Eurona Internet
Post by ColinB on Dec 29th, 2013 at 9:38pm
Am I the only one to notice a  Eurona outage  25/12 17.00 hrs to 26/12 10.00 hrs and then 26/12 18.00 hrs to 27/12 10.30 hrs (all times approx) ????  No phone and no Internet and of course no apology.??
So if I am the only one...then WHY?????

No of course you were not the only one to lose phone and internet. (Eurona).
But it was holiday time, plus windy conditions, to expect people to go out to do repairs.
But we considered ourselves lucky and this being only a 'minor' problem, when our family in the U.K. suffered damage to the roof of the house on 14th. December, and and since then rain has been coming into the house causing even more damage.

Why is the wind to blame?  The antenna on top of the mast on top of the mountain is built like a battleship.  The antenna on my roof does not move, I amde sure, so why should we tollerate an outage in a gale and not receive an admission and apology after the event?  It has to be down to insufficient bandwidth and shoddy management.   And I DO expect repair teams to go out if necessary - I'm paying for a 24/7 service and expect prompt rectification as needed.

Eurona have a responsibility for the safety of their employees. They would not send someone up a tower in high winds as it is extremely dangerous. Likewise they do not send people out to remote difficult to access sites at night as, again, it is potentially dangerous.

Iberbanda have a transmitter on the top of Mt. Caro. A few years ago it failed and at the time the mountain roads were impassable. We were without service for nearly 2 weeks as a result. All companies have breakdowns, some repair the breakdowns quicker than others. In this case the damage was caused by the wind ripping a cable out of a connector and damaging the connector in the process.

Blimey Colin.  We were staying with family in the UK over Christmas and had a power cut from midnight to 4pm on Christmas Day.  No one made a personal apology to us either, sh** happens, especially in bad weather.
