Hi Nen. You would do better going to the Land Registry as the Notary will most probably tell you you need one, whether you do or not, our Notary said we did and Land Registry said one was not needed.

The requirements for the cedulla is that if  the  house was built years ago it must be registered as a house in the Land registry  before August 1984. The cadastral might say you have a house and you may be paying taxes but unless it was registered in the Land registry it is not worth the paper its written on. You can go to the Land registry and ask for these papers from before 1984 to see if your property was registered costs around 60-70€.It is not a problem to have Casa put on the escritura ,the notario is willing to take around 1000€ to do this but when selling need the cedulla or its an almacen,so as it is I dont think its worth paying a 1000€ .Things need sorting out urgently

Whilst talking to a local Mayor ,we said that the English and foreigners bring lots on money to the area, the Mayor said the English all they bring is trouble.I was shocked its not a nice thing to say. They wanted our money now they dont want to know our problems, I think they close their eyes and hope we will go away

I totally agree, they have sold their small pieces of land for inflated prices, bought the new vehicle, renovated their house and now we are no use to them so they would prefer to make life difficult so that we all go back to the UK. All the locals knew that what we were building was illegal houses as we were only given permission for an Almacen but told it was acceptable to build a house. If the locals had come clean and told us then there would have been no more sales.  It is not only the Mayor & officials who are guilty it is also the locals in the village, and now some of them also want rid of us.   Angry

Although not a nice thing to hear, you must admit he has a point, some brits have caused a lot of trouble here, what with unscrupulous estate agents, Brits fighting in bars,Brits taking out Denuncias on other Brits, and brits having affairs, were living in sleepy little catalan towns and villages, ten years ago they didnt know what an English man looked like.

Sorry, but this is utter crap!! So the Catalans are all saints are they?. I don't think so and they have seen/done it all before any Brit. was out there. It is the usual story ie. if it is a local mis-behaving it is not news but if it is a Brit then it is a good excuse to put the boot in.

No one said the Catalans were saints, there are tosser's in every country, I am just fed up with you lot moaning about how hard done by the Brits are. well I am a Brit and I am not hard done by. I know a lot of people here that actually like living here, yes the red tape sucks, yes the bloody burglers need to be hung drawn and quartered but this happens in every country. There is still a lot to like about this area and I for one am going to enjoy it Cool

Me too!

I have enjoyed it..

I am enjoying it and..

I expect to continue enjoying it..

I used to spend 8+ hours a day sat in an office looking at a computer screen or the grey dull outside and the rain running down the office windows.

Now I spend 10+ hours outside, working on things I (mostly) want to do, enjoying how bright and light it is and occasionally wishing for a drop of rain.

Would I go back to the office - not a chance!  You'd need to drag me kicking and screaming from here.

Many years ago someone very wise told me something that held true then and still holds true today...

There have never been times so good that a lot of people haven't lost a lot of money.
And;
There have never been times so bad that a lot of people haven't made a lot of money.
Times now are bad (as we all know) but there are still oportunities.

This thread started out as one relevant to the Cedula de Habitabilidad problems and as I have a vested interest in getting a Cedula I keep a close eye on what gets posted here in case some good news appears from someone sensible like 'Greg' who kindly started it off.

As the last dozen or so messages have nothing to do with the CH and the entire topic has changed to some peoples' opinions of why they're here, moans and whinges can I therefore ask the moderators or administrators to moderate and administer and keep topics on track?
