hi all, we have just returned to the u.k. after 5 great weeks in spain, we are considering buying a spanish car, i have read various things about the itv test is it still every 2 years up to the car reaching 10 years old then every 12 months after or has it changed

It does inform you of that requirement on the above list of vehicles I think this is because they are classified here in Spain as "Commercial" where in the UK they would not and would require an MOT every 12 months. More income for the sinking ship I suppose   Angry Angry

if you inform them at the itv center it is not for comercial use and fill in a form you will only need to itv every year Smiley

Think you'll find if it is actually a van then it will always be commercial,if it has factory fitted rear seats,windows,side doors etc it is a van derived car  and ITV'd every 12 mths.

It's very easy to book an appointment online for the ITV and we were actually in and out before our appointment time.  Our car is RHD but Spanish registered and so far has had to do the ITV every two years but from now on it's every year as the car is 10 years old.
