Afternoon all,
Looking to see if anyone can clarify this - Goldcar are looking for 4e per day to put my wife on the insurance for the Summer visit, I think that insurance in Spain is for the car and it doesn't matter who drives it so there should be no extra charge, is this just another Goldcar money making ploy or are there different rules for car hire insurance. All replies gratefully appreciated.

Think you'll find it is...along with payment for a full tank and bring it back empty. It's an old one but it works for the rental agencies.

the full/empty thing really works for the rent companies if you have the following experience. This has happened to me twice so I do not think it is an accident. I rented a small Diahatsu from Hertz in Barcelona When I was taking it back the fuel indicator quickly went from one bar to empty indicator light. I put in a fiver worth but it did not make any impact on the indicator gauge so I put another fiver thinking it must have been empty. A few miles down the road the indicator bars suddenly jumps up to quarter full which is the way I gave it back.
